MAOISTS KILL B’NGIR NAIB SARPANCH

After a brief lull, Maoists have stepped up their activities in Balangir district by killing the Naib Sarpanch of Bagdore gram panchyat under the Belpada PS on Monday night.

According to sources, Naib Sarpanch Alekha Majhi, while returning to his village Dhaunradadar by a motorcycle with two others, was intercepted by the Maoists. The Red rebels took him to the outskirt of the village and shot him dead, suspecting him to be a police informer, claimed a Maoist poster of the Balangir Area Committee there.

“As the Naib Sarpanch had been opposing the ideology of the Maoists, the latter have killed him. He was not our informer,” said Balangir SP Deepak Kumar.
